Manual and Automated Testing for a Travel Booking Platform

A travel company offering a wide range of services, including flight and hotel bookings as well as complete holiday packages. The company provides a web and mobile platform that enables customers to plan and book trips in one place, with features such as instant booking confirmation, competitive pricing, and personalized travel options, including themed and all-inclusive packages.

Our QAs were tasked with testing the platform across mobile (Android, iOS) and Web. We conducted both manual and automated testing, including testing new features.

Challenges

• Implemented a standardized bug reporting form to streamline bug fixing process.

• Conducted cross-platform and cross-browser testing using BrowserStack, ensuring stable performance across devices and OS versions.
• Provided valuable usability and UI suggestions that were later implemented by the development team, resulting in a more intuitive and user-friendly product.
• Implementation of automated end-to-end (E2E) testing.

• WebDriverIO + Mocha + Appium were used for cross-platform, cross-browser web and mobile testing.
• BrowserStack was used for real device testing across different platforms (iOS, Android, and different Web browsers)
• LoadRunner was chosen for detailed performance analysis and accurate load simulation, providing comprehensive insights into platform scalability.
• Integrated tools like Google Analytics and New Relic for real-time feedback from actual users, enhancing understanding of platform usability and performance.
• Jira was used for defect reporting and tracking.

• 450+ manual test cases were written, most of which were later automated.
• Maintain existing test cases after each change is deployed
• Ensured the absence of post-release bugs across all standard user scenarios.
